The Role of the Committee
The HMIS and Data Committee (HDC) supports the Sacramento Continuum of Care (CoC) by overseeing the policies, procedures, and data infrastructure that support the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). With support from Sacramento Steps Forward, the HMIS lead agency, the committee ensures the CoC’s data systems comply with federal regulations, support community-wide reporting, and inform decision-making across programs and priorities.
The committee reviews and recommends updates to privacy and security protocols, evaluates data quality standards, and contributes to the development of local dashboards and performance tools. It also plays a role in evaluating how effectively Sacramento Steps Forward fulfills federal reporting requirements, including though reports such as the Housing Inventory Count (HIC), Point-in-Time Count (PIT), System Performance Measures (SPMs), and Longitudinal Systems Analysis (LSA).
