Training to Help Resolve Homelessness

Supporting providers with relevant, practical training to serve people more effectively.

Complicated work deserves clear training.

Navigating funding requirements and finding meaningful learning opportunities to increase your skills can be complicated. To help you, Sacramento Steps Forward coordinates and curates trainings specifically for our local system. We collaborate with subject matter experts, city and county partners, and people with lived experience to develop relevant, practical sessions.

Additional Trainings for Service Providers and Partners

Explore learning opportunities from third-party organizations on a variety of topics related to housing and homelessness.

But don't take our word for it; listen to the providers doing the work.

“It's always good to learn and re-learn ... It reinforced what I knew and gave me new information. Excellent training.”
“It was a very informative and enlightening training. Hopefully we continue receiving reinforcements like this in the future.”
“This was a great training with great information.”
“This training was exceptional!”
“[We] need more trainings like these!”
“I really learned a lot.”
“Presenters did a great job sharing and explaining the many forms of Trauma. They explained clearly how to recognize and support our clients as well as ourselves. Thank you.”

We get these questions a lot. Here are our best answers:

Do I need to take every training if I am funded through the Sacramento Continuum of Care?

Not all trainings are required. Each listing indicates its relevance by role, system, and compliance need.

Are all trainings open to the public?

Each training description notes who is eligible to attend. While many are public, some require HMIS certification or have other requirements to protect sensitive client information.

What if I miss a session or want to review a past training?

We offer materials and recordings after many of our sessions, uploaded in the event descriptions within the week after the training takes place.

Check past meetings on the calendar or submit your question for additional information.
