COVID-19 Shelter Response
The Response Team has provided written guidance and holds regular meetings with community shelter partners on sanitation, daily and entry assessments, and social distancing.
COVID-19 Encampment Response
37 designated outreach workers from the County, Sacramento Steps Forward, Sacramento Self-Help Housing and Sacramento Covered are monitoring and working with people living outdoors. This includes 47 Encampments (< 20 people) and 69 encampments (20+ people). Meals are being provided daily. There is also a distribution of sanitation and hygiene kits.
Donate 4 Sac Mini Grant Program
Sacramento Steps Forward is pleased to have been chosen as an intermediary partner with Donate4Sacramento to distribute funds that will support the needs of our unhoused neighbors during the COVID-19 crisis. We have opted to direct the majority of our funding towards efforts to keep individuals living in encampments and on the street as comfortable as possible, enabling them to shelter in place to the best of their abilities. This includes providing them with meals, sanitation supplies, tents and other survival gear through a network of committed advocacy groups that operate largely with volunteers. Below is a list of groups and organizations that have been funded to date as part of this effort.
