Meet the Staff: Jesse Archer, CoC Analyst

The Sacramento Continuum of Care (CoC) is a 30 member Board that works to inclusively address critical issues related to homelessness through a coordinated community-based process promoting the communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness in the region.

The CoC is responsible for managing community planning, coordination and evaluation to ensure that the system of homeless assistance resources are used effectively and efficiently to rapidly and permanently end people’s homelessness.

This makes our CoC Department critical to continue facilitating and advancing our local homelessness system planning. We sat down recently with Jesse Archer to learn about his background and what he looks forward to doing in his role as our newest CoC Analyst.

What will you be doing at SSF?

As the new Continuum of Care (CoC) Analyst at Sacramento Steps Forward (SSF) I will be supporting the CoC, its board, and committees with special requests and projects as needed. I will also be assisting with policy and planning activities that help support the strategic growth and initiatives of the CoC and SSF.

What motivated you to join SSF?

With a wealth of knowledge and experience working with unhoused Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) youth I felt like I could bring an important perspective in the critical work that SSF and the CoC do.

What do you wish people knew about homelessness?

I want folks to understand that first and foremost housing is a human right that all people should have equitable access to no matter their life story. It is our collective responsibility as a community to ensure our neighbors have safe and secure housing.

What are you excited to do in your new role?

I am excited to engage and interact with so many different people and communities to help provide support to the CoC and SSF. I am also excited to continue to advance housing first and innovative solutions to end homelessness.

The CoC hosts regular systemwide discussions to provide local homelessness updates and engage in critical conversations towards ending homelessness. Explore and participate in the various CoC committees.
