Download our September report for highlights from Sacramento’s front door to homelessness and housing services: the Coordinated Access System (CAS). Each month, the CAS helps connect thousands of residents experiencing or at risk of homelessness with crucial community resources.
Stories from the Frontline
"After facing homelessness, a woman came to the 2-1-1 team seeking help securing shelter where she could stay with her emotional support dog, her constant companion and source of comfort through incredibly difficult times.
Her goal was to find a safe place to stay that would welcome both her and her dog, so she could begin to rebuild her life without being separated from the support she relies on.
Understanding how important that bond was, we worked together to identify pet-friendly shelter options. In a short time, I was able to get her placed in a shelter where she and her dog could stay together.
With shelter secured, she’s been able to reestablish a routine, explore next steps for employment, and begin putting her life back on track.
Meeting people where and honoring what is most important to them can make all the difference in their journey toward stability."
One of many success stories from our community's Coordinated Access Navigators.
